Three principal sources inspire VALUEx:
1. Berkshire Hathaway, Buffett, Munger, Graham and Dodd, etc.
2. Wikipedia and the Open Source revolution
3. TED – ideas worth sharing
A note from Isaac Schwartz: “As a former resident of Hong Kong, Singapore and Beijing, I’ve witnessed up close how Asian value investors would benefit from such a community; and this March, we will come together in the foothills of the Tian Shan mountains of the Great Steppe.
When: March 2-3, 2017
Where: The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty, Kazakhstan
Primary investors, institutional investors, and operators of non-financial businesses, will come together in an off-the-record format that will promote openness and learning. As the premier community for value investors in Asia, this event is not open to the public. To request an invitation, please contact email@example.com.
VALUEx Kazakhstan runs on a not-for-profit basis, with attendance costs kept low, and any profits donated to two charities active in the region: the Children’s Medical Foundation and the Joint Distribution Committee.
Since our community spans Asia broadly – not any single corner of it – we’ll come together at the region’s historic crossroads in the heart of Central Asia. Conveniently, Almaty is served direct from much of Asia and Europe by Kazakhstan’s excellent national airline, Air Astana, and several Star Alliance carriers.
In early March, Almaty roars with lively nightlife, cold temperatures, and excellent skiing just twenty minutes’ drive from the city center. (Some attendees plan to ski Shymbulak mountain on Saturday, March 4, 2017.)
